The platform
More than a stage
Opening in Fall 2026, The Platform blends performance, creativity, and community in a state-of-the-art venue built to connect and inspire.

What is the Platform?
The Platform will bring a new vibrancy into the most innovative square mile in the world with a 45,000-sq-ft performing arts center. Developed by BioMed Realty, and operated by Global Arts Live — greater Boston’s trusted curator of international music and dance for over 35 years — The Platform brings art to life and brings people together through the power of live performance
The Platform features the state-of-the-art Takeda Theater at The Platform accommodating 400 patrons; a rehearsal studio that matches the working space of the 3,100-sq-ft main stage; and a 125-seat cabaret stage in a ground-floor commons area with gathering spaces, an indoor garden, bar, and café.
More than just a performance venue, it’s a platform for supporting artists and nonprofits; a platform for work that expands our perspectives; a platform for culture, connection, and conversation.
The next step in the Global Arts Live Journey
Beyond the performances presented by local independent artists and community organizations, one-third of The Platform’s artistic programming will be curated by Global Arts Live, including music and dance performances that the organization has presented locally for 35 years. The Platform will greatly expand Global Arts Live’s programming—more dance, more jazz, more global voices.

Creativity. Curiosity. Community.
The Platform was created with the community in mind—and with community at the table. Through an Artist Advisory Circle, we developed a plan to address the need for a midsized professional theater that benefits the broader arts community. We’ve also ensured all performance and rehearsal spaces will be available at below market rates for independent artists, nonprofits, and other arts presenters. 25 nights per year will be offered rent-free to community organizations.
