community programs
The Platform was created with the community in mind, and with community at the table.
25 FREE rentals PROGRAM
The Platform’s 25 Free Nights program is a core initiative supporting artists and organizations through access to free performance space. At a time when access to affordable creative space is increasingly limited, the 25 Free Nights program is designed to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the local arts ecosystem by prioritizing under-resourced artists and expanding opportunities for public engagement. The free rentals of the 25 Free Nights program are underwritten by Global Arts Live fundraising efforts and the generosity of many individuals.
global arts live CONNECT
The Global Arts Live CONNECT program widens access to the performing arts for immigrant communities and low-income families to performances presented by Global Arts Live—many of which take place at The Platform. With the belief that live arts transform and everyone belongs, CONNECT opens the doors to culturally diverse music and dance programming, inviting local communities and the organizations that support them to connect to the arts and to each other.
arts advisory circle
The Platform Arts Advisory Circle is a cohort of artists, arts workers, and arts organizations who advise The Platform on its programs and operations, with the goal of nurturing long-term, sustainable relationships in the community. The Circle convenes several times per year to advance The Platform’s investment in visibility, engagement, opportunity and access to resources for performance-based artists and arts organizations by centering the voices, lived experience, and creative labor of artists.
platform ed.
Platform Ed. is a project that bolsters performing artists capacity to use (not just access) The Platform. Platform Ed. works to support artistic practice, production literacy, and resource equity through educational materials, direct learning experiences, and ongoing support for presenting artists and organizations.
Internship Program
Facilitated through a partnership with Brighter Boston, The Platform will open its state-of-the-art production facilities for youth mentoring and workforce development with a paid internship program in performing arts production for local high school students.
These programs at The Platform are taking shape alongside the development of the venue; we aim for these initiatives to steward a community-focused space where artists and audiences can grow with us.
