Founded in 2018, BDT builds and sustains a diverse professional contemporary dance company that provides high quality dance performances, dance education, and community outreach to strengthen Boston’s dance community and create new audiences. 

Under the direction of Jessie Jeanne Stinnett BDT is Boston’s first contemporary dance repertory company with international ties at the leadership level. Collaborations have been undertaken by recognized US choreographers including Rena Butler, Rosie Herrera and Micaela Taylor as well as globally recognized choreographers including Itzik Galiili (Netherlands), Marco Goecke (Germany), Allesandro Sousa Pereira (Brazil). 

BDT is one of three year-round salaried professional dance companies in Boston. BDT’s salaried dancers train and rehearse 25 hours per week for 48 weeks and will perform at least two dozen times. BDT also offers two educational immersion programs annually and supports six full-time trainees and one apprentice.
